Welcome to AfroSolo
Welcome!
Thanks for visiting our website.
We are off to a great start for 2010, and we are excited to bring you a host of events to celebrate AfroSolo Theatre Company's 17th season. I encourage you to become a Fan of AfroSolo on our Facebook page for more information about our company. Click here or on the link above.
The 17th annual AfroSolo Arts Festival has been scheduled for August through September of this year, with the theme of United in Peace: Artists, Clergy, Statesmen and Community, using the arts to explore, examine and promote peace. Using a range of performances, exhibits and other activities, we will explore issues around race, civil rights, sexuality, health, issues facing youth and much more.
Our vision for the 17th annual Festival is to unify the artistic, religious, political and communal viewpoints to focus on what it means to live in peace. Please join us by donating, volunteering, participating in lectures and seminars, or attending our events. All of the events will examine questions and actions around creating and maintaining peace, both individually and collectively.
Some of the questions our artists will be focusing on are, What does peace mean to me? What parts of myself do I need to make peace with? Who do I need to make peace with? Who needs to make peace with me? What can I do to create peace in my self, my home, and my community? How would you answer these questions?
With great respect,
Thomas Robert Simpson
Founder/Artistic Director
AfroSolo's mission is to nurture, promote, and present African American and African Diasporan art and culture through solo performances and the visual and literary arts. Since 1993, we have provided a forum to give an authentic voice to the diverse experiences of Black people. Through art, we bring people of all ethnicities together to explore and share the human spirit that binds us all.
